Mr. Rowland was born on November 2, 1935, in Charleston, a son of the late Robert Clarence Rowland and Frances Smoak Rowland.
A graduate of Bishop England High School, he served in the United States Air Force, and the United States Air Force Reserves from which he retired.
Mr. Rowland was employed for 36 years by the US Postal Service as a Mail Carrier.
He played the pedal steel guitar and was a member of the Texas Connection Band.
Mr. Rowland was a Mason, member of the Knights of Pythias, American Legion, Post 147 and the V.F.W.
In addition to his wife Grace of Charleston, and his mother Frances of North Charleston; he is survived by a son, Robert Dale Rowland and wife Pat of Charleston; a step-son, Tommy Martin of Charleston; a brother Martin Rowland of St. George and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
