CARLA ANN MITCHELL
funeral services were held Jan. 19 in the Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, for Carla Ann Mitchell. The Rev. Paul Royal officiated, with local arrangements by Wooster Funeral Home of Pauls Valley.
Miss Mitchell was born to Joyce and Howard Mitchell on April 21, 1958, in Pauls Valley and died Jan. 16 in Pauls Valley General Hospital at the age of 38 after a three-year battle with cancer.
Miss Mitchell lived her childhood days in Davis and graduated from Davis High School. She attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority as well as a little sister to the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. She graduated from OU with a bachelor of arts degree in communications.
She spent one year in Brussels, Belgium, working for the European Economic Common Market. Upon her return to the states, she took a job with Southern Methodist University's Athletic Department. She was working for the university in its alumni relations department at the time of her death.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Park Cities Baptist Church.
She is survived by her father, Howard Mitchell of Davis, a brother, Dr. Chuck Mitchell of Pauls Valley, a sister, Cecilia Gutierrez of Houston, Texas, and nieces and nephews, Taylor and Makelti Mitchell and Daniela and Julian Gutierrez. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Miss Mitchell requested memorials be made to the Carla Ann Mitchell Kappa Alpha Theta Memorial Scholarship fund, c/o Meredith Stanley, 845 Chataqua, Norman, OK 73069.
