A funeral service was held Saturday for Mrs. Elisabeth E. Deal, 73, formerly of Naxera, who died Tuesday, September 6, 1977 in Taunton, Mass.
She was the widow of Noah F. Deal.
She had served as a missonary to India and retired last year after teaching at the All Tribes Indian Mission School in Bernalillo, N.M.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Edward Brown of Hayes, Mrs. Katherine Edmondson of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Wayne Montgomery of Ashtabula, Ohio and Mrs. Leon Hicks of Gloucester Point; three sons, Edwin Deal of Naxera, Frank Deal of Los Angeles, and John Earl Deal of Hampton; a sister Mrs. Herman Chase of West Brattleton, Vermont; a brother, John M. Earle of East Greenwich, R.I.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was conducted by the Rev. W. E. Honeycutt in Severn Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Samuel Deal, Ronald Deal, Daniel Deal, George Sterling, Ed Sterling, and Fred Sterling.

Elisabeth is shown as a passenger aboard the SS Gripsholm arriving at New York on December 1, 1943 having departed the port of Mormugao, India on October 22 that year. In the obituary notice of her father a few months later, it is mentioned that she had only recently returned home after having been in Japanese captivity.
