DRUMMOND MAN BURNED TO DEATH
Logan McCoy, aged about 65 years, was burned to death in a fire which destroyed his residence in the northeast part of Drummond at about 1:30 Saturday morning.

The victim of the fire was alone in the house at the time. Chas. Hirst and family were living with him but as Mr. Hirst was in Watonga on a business trip, Mrs. Hirst and baby were spending the night at the John Sargent home about a half block away.

It is thought that the fire was started by a chicken brooder which was near the stairs in a downstairs room. McCoy was sleeping upstairs. The flames had gained such headway when discovered by neighbors that all that could be done was to keep them from spreading. The neighbors standing as near the fire as heat would permit saw McCoy's body pitch down into burning debris as the floor collapsed.

The Enid fire department was called and the chemical rig came out. The firemen were shown the probably location of the body and after spraying the ruins with the chemicals, they were soon able to dig the remains from the smoldering ashes. The body was taken to an Enid undertaking establishment.

McCoy had lived in Drummond about a year. The house which he owned was known as the old Bennett house and contained about seven rooms.

It is supposed that McCoy was suffocated by smoke and flames and probably never realized that the house was on fire. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Brasington of Mound City, Mo.; an adopted daughter who lives at St. Joseph, Mo.; a son, who is thought to be in Colorado; a half sister in western Nebraska; and a cousin, Riley Munkres of near Lahoma.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Drummond Congregational church. Burial was made in Del Norte cemetery.
