She was the younger daughter of Henry Lafayette "Fate" Houck and Nancy Caroline Bowman Houck. She married James Dudley Moore. Their children were: James Elliot, Milton Edward, James Dudley Jr. (m Margaret Allen), Mary Virginia (m James Richard Hix Jr.), Annie Catherine (m. Bill Harrington), Roy Ivey (m. Freda Emily Hendren), and Henry Lee Moore.

Annie Lee was known affectionately as "Big Mama".
