Thomas J. Glancy, age 73 of Chesterton, passed away Friday June 11, 2010 at Porter Hospital Valparaiso Campus. He was born on July 21, 1936 in Hammond, IN and was the son of Everett Glancy and Louella Daumer Glancy, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married June 14, 1958 in Porter, Indiana to Carol Krause, who survives in Chesterton. He is also survived by three daughters: Lora (John) Wilezynski of Vermont, Lisa Glancy of Chesterton and Lesley Penix of Chesterton. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Brendan (Nicole) Wilezynski, Donovan (Jen) Wilezynski, Justine Penix, Tiffany (Rocco) Vacanti and Dustin Krause and four great grandchildren: Wyatt, Rocco, Kaden and Dylan. He is also survived by a brother, Jack (Barbara) Glancy of Carbon; and a sister, Cherly (Dan) Howe of Chesterton. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Otis, IN with Pastor Thomas Sabel officiating. The burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, June 14, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street Chesterton, IN. Tom was a financial planner employed with the Raymond James Brokerage Firm. He was a member of the Porter County Farm Bureau, PCART, a member of the Kiwanis, ROTC, NRA, a member of the Duneland Painter and Setter Club, Wisconsin Mink Club, a member of the Chesterton Art Center, and finally, he was a member of the local and state 4H where he judged painting, which was his biggest joy. family which was one of the founding families of Sandwich, Massachusetts. Her father is from Knox, Indiana. Thomas James Glancy was born July 21, 1936 to Luella Helen Daumer Glancy and Everett Harry Glancy. His mother was born in
Hammond, Indiana, and his father was from Westville, Indiana. They were married June 14, 1958 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Porter, Indiana. They resided in
Jackson Township until the summer of 1959 when they moved to the Furnessville area. Thomas worked as a cost accountant for the Budd Company in Gary, Indiana.
In July, 1961 they moved to Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin where he took employment as a field auditor for Consolidated Papers of Rhinelander, Wisconsin. In November, 1964 they returned to Liberty Township in Porter County where he took employment as the general manager for Calumet Propane Gas Company in Gary, Indiana. In 1965, he took a position with the Calumet Publishing Company as controller. A year later he was promoted to treasurer and added the title of Vice-President in 1967. The company merged with Panax Corporation from East Lansing, Michigan in October 1972 and changed its name to Panax Publishing Company. In November 1974 the family moved to a new home in Jackson Township. A year later in November, 1975 Thomas was given the additional title of general manager of the Panax Publishing Newspaper Division. Three children came of this union: Laura Marie -- January 20, 1960 in Gary, Indiana, and Leslie Ann and Lisa Ann on May 11, 1962 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Thomas is a graduate of Liberty Center High School and Indiana University where he majored in Accounting and minored in Journalism and English. He is listed in Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the
United States. Carol is a graduate of Jackson Township High School and has the distinction of having graduated with the smallest class ever from that school, totaling only five students. She and her mother are making plans to attend the
Tupper reunion in Sandwich, Massachusetts in September, 1976. Together they formed Hoosier Publications, Inc. in 1968. This company publishes Hoosier Outdoors Magazine which is the largest circulated outdoor publication in the
