A dedicated, lifelong law enforcement professional, he retired as a Captain from the Oklahoma City Police Department in January 1983. He then served as the Chief of Police in both El Reno and Chickasha, OK from 1984-1989. Then from 1989 to 1995, he was Director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), until he moved back to Chickasha, serving as Chief in 1996. In 2001, he moved to Kingston, and served as the Madill, OK police chief for the last year and a half of his life.
