Rev. Frederick Earl Pigott, 91, of Earl-Della Drive, Shallotte, NC died Monday, April 28, 2008.
Born in Brunswick County on May 22, 1916, he was a son of the late Frederick William and Emma Leonard Pigott. He was predeceased by grandsons, Robert Pigott and Joey Phelps. He was a retired brickmason and founding pastor of several churches in the surrounding area, and was the pastor at Abundant Life.
Mr. Earl as he was affectionately known was born the ninth and youngest child and attributes his longevity to the blessings of God, the good cooking of his wife, and being able to smell the marsh mud at Shallotte Point. He said he feels fortunate to have seen the fifth generation of Pigott's born in his lifetime.
Surviving are his wife of seventy-two plus years, Della Fulford Pigott. A son and daughter-in-law, Sheldon E. and Janice Pigott, Supply, NC. Two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda Pigott Porter and Lee Porter, Wilmington, NC., Mary Pigott Diaz and Osvaldo Diaz, Shallotte, NC; four grandchildren, David Pigott, Cindy Meyer, Freddie McLelland, Stephen Phelps; twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in Gurganus Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the funeral home.
