Mrs. Black was born September 12, 1915 in Upson County daughter of the late Alvin Sanford Kersey and Lizzie Lou Hancock Kersey. Mrs. Black was a homemaker and member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Carrollton.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her husband W. S. Black Jr. January 18, 1990, a grandson, Thomas Sidney Black and by four brothers.
Survivors include: two daughters, Margie Ann Black, Norcross, GA and Mary Louise Black Wolfe, Carrollton; son, Milton Thomas Black, Las Vegas, NV; brother, Charles Edward Kersey, Thomaston, GA; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Margaret Johnson (David), Dallas, GA and Amy Lynn Baizabal (Apolinar Baizabal-Callejas), Villa Rica, GA; three great grand-children, Johnathan Daniel Todd and Ethan William Todd, Dallas, GA; Abigail Sarah Condron, Carrollton; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside and interment services will be held Thursday at 2 PM in Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens in Rome, GA with Dr. Floyd Roebuck officiating. Mrs. Black will lie in state in the parlor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Carrollton where the family will receive friends Thursday January 28th from 10 AM until 11 AM.
The family respectfully asked in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Camp Pinnacle P.O. Box 725 Clayton, GA 30525 or the W. S. Black Environmental Scholarship Berry College Mount Berry, GA 30149.
