Hedwig Berndt
Mrs. Hedwig Berndt, 78, a resident of Galveston since 1926, died Sunday morning at her residence, 5515 Avenue Q 1/2. She was born Feb. 20, 1885, at Bellville, Texas.
A member of the First Lutheran Church, she also belonged to the auxiliary of Sons of Herman Lodge No. 3.
Survivors include three sons, Leslie, Chester and Delmar Berndt, all of Galveston; two brothers, Benny Franks and Gus Franks, both of Bellville; a sister Mrs. Ida Dest (Oest) of LaMarque; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at J. Levy & Bro. funeral home. The Rev. Vernon Rabel will officiate and burial will be in Galveston Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Delmar Berndt Jr., Chester Berndt Jr., Harold Moody, B.H. Louwein, W.O. Fredrickson and E.R. Cellum.
