Lois H. Solomon

June 15, 1919 - June 3, 2010
Lois Hadley Solomon, 90, died June 3 at the home of her daughter surrounded by family. She died of complications due to kidney cancer. She lived a long and full life. She felt she was blessed by her family and friends, a lifetime of travels, and a teaching career.

Lois was born in Chatsworth, Calif., to parents Leslie Edward Hadley and Maybelle Harriett Drew Hadley and had a sister Barbara. Her father was a rancher and environmentalist who passed on his value of education to Lois who was a life long-learner and educator.

After graduating from Occidental College, Lois married Elmer Solomon and had four children. All four children also gained the love of education, as they too became teachers in their adult lives. After 21 years of marriage, Lois and Elmer divorced and she raised her children to be family orientated people who looked out for each other and helped society.

A teacher for 28 years, she taught elementary school, adult education, and tutored children in reading in the San Fernando Valley and later moved to Truckee before retiring and moved to Vacaville in 1984, and became an active member of Community Presbyterian Church.

She was a remarkable woman and loved by all. Lois is survived by her four children, Ken (wife Tyra) Solomon of Morro Bay, twins Bruce (wife Jane) Solomon of Valencia and Jill (husband John Medlin) of Vacaville, and Jeff (wife Candy) Solomon of Silver Springs, Nev.; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous friends.

A memorial service will be held at Covenant Community Church, 3870 Alamo Drive, Vacaville on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 2 p.m. There will be a private interment at Oakwood Memorial Cemetery in Chatsworth, Calif.

Arrangements by Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home, 446-3233.
