Ashburn. He grew up on a farm with his sister Reba. Carlon attended the local schools. He joined the Marines probably at 17 years of age. He was killed on 7 March 1945 three days before his nineteenth birthday. He was with the Fourth Marine Division during the invasion of Iwo Jimo.
