YOUNGSTOWN - A funeral service celebrating the life of Ms. Judith A. Buchanan, who departed this life June 5, 2010, at her residence, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Pentecostal House of Prayer, 725 Fruit Ave. in Farrell, Pa.
Ms. Buchanan was born Sept. 6, 1948, in Sharon, Pa., a daughter of Sam and Katie Scurry Allen.
She worked for many years as a Correctional Officer with Trumbull County Corrections. She was a member of the Sword of the Lord Ministries in Youngstown, where she was a member of the hospitality committee and a praise dancer. She was an avid bowler and played for the Brown Sugar Softball Team. She had also held several memberships with AFSCME AFL-CIO, U.S. Bowling Congress and Public Employees Retirement System of Ohio.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two brothers, the Rev. John T. and his wife, Pixie Allen and Kenneth and his wife, Cynthia Moore, both of Youngstown; a sister, Carol J. Hargrove of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Dwayne Allen.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Washington Funeral Home in Youngstown. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to services on Friday at the Pentecostal House of Prayer in Farrell.
Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon.
