Norbert L. Sanders was born in Mercer County, Ohio on Apr. 14, 1932, the third of ten children to the late Gerald and Viola (Topp) Sanders.
He resided in Virginia Beach, VA. where he died June 10, 2010.
His career spanned 30 years of service with the United States Air Force and 23 years of civil service, being a retired administrator of security command from the United States government.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Michele R. (Rolande) Sanders of Virginia Beach; his sons: Dwight N. of Houston, TX and George R. of Macomb, MI; his granddaughters: Kristy, Rebecca and Rachel; and his great-grand-children: Alex, Eric, Joshua, Armando, Arianna and Angelina. Also surviving are his siblings: Fred Sanders, Mary Ellen Miller (died 3/14/11), Dorothy Meeker, Ralph Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Geraldine "Mimi" Monday and siblings: Paul Sanders, Delores Hussey, Ruth Long, Gerald Sanders Jr., Carl Sanders.
A gathering to share memories was held June 15, 2010 at Altmeyer Funeral Home in Virginia Beach.
Graveside rites, with full military honors, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Burge Cemetery in Montezuma, OH. Arrangements are entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys.
