John Earl Franks Dies in Arkansas

John Earl Franks, 69, native of Chickasaw County, who had spent the past 30 years in Arkansas, died at 7:30 pm, last Thursday at the home of a daughter in Hughes, Ark. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

He was a retired farmer, the son of William Carrol Franks and Adaline Thorp Franks. He was born Dec. 15 1890, and was a Baptist.

The Rev. L M Wright officiated at funeral services Tuesday at 10 am, at the Macedonia Church. Interment was in the Macedonia Cemetery. Norman Funeral Home was in charge.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Betty Franks of Sparta, Miss.; a daughter, Mrs. Sam Ashby of Hughes, Ark.; four sons, Malcolm L Franks, Donald G Franks, John W Franks, and Jack E Franks, all of Linwood, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. W A Long of Shannon, Miss.; two half sisters, Mrs. Carl weed of Jackson, Tenn., and Mrs. Sidney Davis of Moline, Ill.; a half brother, Erwin Franks of Moline, Ill.; 21 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
