Betty Jean Drennan, formerly Sayers, of Blissfield, MI, "flew the coop", leaving this earth for Heaven on April 21, 2009, five days before her 83rd birthday. She was born April 26, 1926 to Myrtle Sayers in Detroit.
She married Robert M. Drennan on January 1st, 1952, who preceded her in death. Betty and Bob met on a blind date with another couple. Each was the others date. Not impressed with his date, Bob got Betty's phone number, bought drinks for the table, called a friend to pick him up and went to the restroom where he disappeared out the window.
Betty is predeceased by her mother, Myrtle, and grandmother, Lena Sayers, who adopted Betty after Myrtle's death at age 21. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Dianne Kay Drennan, who has been there for her for the last 14 years.
Betty earned her teaching certificate from Sienna Heights College in Adrian. She loved her teaching career and worked diligently every night on papers and assignments. She taught elementary school at Lenawee Co. Normal, Immaculate Conception at Raabs for 17 years and Crestwood Elementary in Swanton. Betty then changed careers and joined the Engineering Department at Dana Corp. She was a member and served as Secretary of the Richfield Township Zoning Commission. Betty was an artist and enjoyed teaching art over the years. She was a member of the Wauseon Elks Ladies Auxiliary.
As a teenager, Betty and her uncle built an airplane and terrorized the skies above Blissfield. She continued to enjoy life frequently enjoying casino gambling in Las Vegas with friends, the Creques.'
Over the years, Betty and Bob enjoyed extensive travel in their family motor home, towing their boat to pursue their love of fishing. While fishing on a remote lake in Canada, they rescued a couple who had capsized. This adventure was typical of the goodwill and willingness to help others.
Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH, where online condolences may be offered to Betty's family at www.reebfuneralhome.com assisted the family with private arrangements. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a contribution in Betty's honor may wish to consider Paws and Whiskers, 32 Hillwyck Drive, Toledo, OH 43615.
Thank you for loving
and sharing,
For giving and for caring,

Until we meet again.
