Survivors include 2 brothers, a sister, four nephews, three nieces, five grand-nieces and grand–nephews and numerous cousins. Dave is also survived by many close friends in the Fairbanks area.
Dave was born July 9, 1949, in Great Falls, Mont., to Delbert and Helen (Viktora) Lemons. He resided on the family ranch northeast of Craig, Mont., where he learned the value of a hard day's work and the fun of a swimming hole when the work was done. He graduated from Cascade High School in 1967, although he didn't get to attend the ceremony, as he was being processed into the Army. He did two tours of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter gunner/mechanic, specialist 4.
After the service, he attended Northern Montana College in Havre, where he studied mechanics. He drove truck for awhile in Montana, and when he first moved to Alaska in the late 1970s, tried his luck at prospecting and hard rock mining, which took him all over the interior of Alaska. He would prospect summers and do mechanical work during winters, which became a full-time job as he settled more permanently in Fairbanks.
He was preceded in death by his father in September, 1976; and his mother in March, 1977.
