Amos John Belden Jr., 80, of Bowie died Wednesday, Oct 12, 2005 at Bowie.

Funeral services were Friday, Oct 14, at First Christian Church in Bowie with Danny Laws and Clyde Markee officiating. Burial followed at Mountain Home Cemetery in Senate under the direction of White Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Belden was born July 22, 1925, to Amos John and Mavis (Driscoll) Belden. He married Farnces Shoun Oct 5, 1954, in Jacksboro.He retired from Bowie Independent School District in 1984 after teaching fifth grade for 22 yeas. He was a vocal major in college and sane with the Tulsa Opera in several musicals and also performed solo for many area churches.

Mr. Belden was a member of Gamma Theta Chapter Sinfonia Fraternity of America and was well known as the "Candy Man," selling peanut patties and brittle for 26 years at Bowie Trade Days.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Belden of Bowie; two sons, John Thomas Belden of Galveston and Andrew David Belden and wife Karrie of Bowie; and six grandchidlre. Kandy Icenhower of Texarkans, Kailah Belden of Bowie, Krystal Fuentes of Galveston, John Anthony Belden of League City, and John Michael Belden and David Anthony Belden, both of California.
