Alfred Wolcott was a graduate of Harvard University.He served as Circuit Court Judge from 1900 until 1908 .In 1888, he was elected Circuit Court Commissioner, and in 1892, Prosecuting Attorney from Kent County, holding the office for two terms; in 1900 Circuit Judge of the Seventeenth Judicial district of Michigan, a position which he occupied until his death. In 1908, he took the initiative in Juvenile Court Laws and was the first Juvenile Court Judge in the State; was also prominent in securing the indeterminate sentence Laws and the parole. He was an orator of unusual ability and force, an able and accomplished lawyer, an upright and conscientious judge.
