Danny Kern
Danny Kern, age 66, of Mount Vernon, Ind., died Thursday evening, June 10, 2010, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born on May 9, 1944, in Griffin, the son of Charles Raymond and Alberta (Penrod) Kern. He married Carolyn Green on March 11, 1977, at New Harmony and she survives.
Mr. Kern was a carpenter. He had served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading Western books.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Vickie Kern of Evansville and Keith Goodwin of Mount Vernon; two daughters and a son-in-law, Angie Wilhite of Evansville and Tracy and David Goldman of Poseyville; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Pam Kern of Issaquah, Wash.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Venita and Jerry Nottingham of Cynthiana and Belinda and Mike Dillback of Evansville. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Christopher Lee Kern; one brother, Gary Kern; and one sister, Dorothy West.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010, at the Austin-Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Griffin with graveside military rites conducted by Owen Dunn Post #5. Online condolences may be left at www.austinfuneralhome.com.
