William S. Lambert Dead

William Shedrick Lambert, of Kansas City, died suddenly from apoplexy Saturday noon at the home of his brother, Finley Lambert, near Allen. Mr. Lambert was visiting his brother and was in good health until Saturday morning when he complained of slight sickness. He dressed, however, and was sitting in a chair when he was stricken. He died almost instantly.

William Shederick Lambert was born March 24, 1852. on the Spoon River, near Galesburg, Ill., where he spent his early life. He attended Northwestern University and was married September 5, 1870, to Julia Dixon, at Yates Center (sic), Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Lambert came to Kansas in 1879, and lived in Emporia several months. They moved to Howard, Kan., and later to Reading, Pa., where Mr. Lambert was engaged in financing, interurban railways and manufacturing. For the past year, Mr. and Mrs. Lambert have lived in Kansas City

Mr. Lambert is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Emmett O'Malley and Mrs. Albert Ayers, of Kansas City. Two brothers, John Lambeert, of Wilber, Minn., and Finley Lambert, of Allen, are here for the funeral. Three brothers, Isaac E., George and Marsh are dead. Mr. Lambert was a member of the Methodist church.

Short services were held at the Lambert home near Allen this morning, conducted by the Rev. L. K. Layne. The body was brought to the home of Mr. Lambert's niece, Mrs. Burr Root, in Emporia, and the funeral was held at 3 o'clock this afternoon. The Rev. J. H. J. Rice, of the First Congregational Church, conducted the services. The pall-bearers were Mr. Lambert's nephews, Cordell, Leon, Ralph and George Lambert, of near Allen, and Ike and Calvin Lambert, of Emporia. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.
