Mrs. Etta Matilda Phillips, 90, of Route 1, Hindsville, died Friday, April 25, in the Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Born July 10, 1884, at Hindsville, the daughter of Loss and Sarah FRITTS Guthrie, she was a Baptist. She was married to Virgil Phillips June 15, 1902, who preceded her in death Jan. 25, 1953. One daughter, Thelma, died several years ago. Also a son, Ray died Aug. 21, 1961.
Survivors include four sons, Doyle of Springdale, Lee of Huntsville, Curtis and Kenneth of Hindsville; three daughters, Mrs. Nola Jones and Mrs. Beulah Litterell of Huntsville and Mrs. Eula Light, Claremore Okla.; thirty grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Brashears Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson, Rev. Jim Light and Rev. Dean Morris officiating, with burial in the Hindsville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Loy Phillips, Dale Phillips, Gary Phillips, Stanley Phillips, Harold Jones and Junior Litterell.
