Charles Perry Mayhall Son of Jefferson Davis and Sarah Catherine (Perry) Mayhall was born 9-23-1895. He married Eva Jeneva White 10-3-1916 in Tecumseh, OK. He resided in McLoud, OK, Meeker, OK, Freer, TX as well as Premont, TX where he was an oil Field worker employed by Humble. He had 5 children with his wife Eva; Inez Charlotte Giese of Alice, Tx-dcsd, June Evelyn Swartz of Premont, TX-dcsd, Betty Dale Johnson of Beaumont, TX-dcsd, Norma Jean Lackey of Freer, TX-dcsd, and Charles Perry Mayhall, Jr of Alice, TX. He rests along side his dear wife Eva in the Premont Cemetery, Premont, Jim Wells, TX.

He sat alone every evening at the gravside of his wife for he dearly loved and missed her when she passed before him. As he sat he jotted down his thoughts and concerns on small pieces of paper he tore from a notebook he always carried. Those notes written in sorrow for his lost love at her graveside are still around and cherished by the family.
