Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tabor Funeral Home in Oakland, IL with Rev. Roger Crites and Rev. Martin Gutzmer officiating. Burial will be in the Van Voorhis Cemetery, north of Hindsboro. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. until service time.
Memorials may be made to the Hindsboro Civic Center, Hindsboro Library, or Hindsboro United Methodist Church.
Crites was born Oct. 31, 1915 in Richland County, the son of Clarence and Ada (Madden) Crites. He married Letha Doris Cotterell July 24, 1937 in Vincennes, IN.
He was a retired school teacher, including at Calhoun and West Salem. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hindsboro. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
He is survived by his wife, of Hindsboro; a son Jim Crites of Rantoul, IL; two daughters, Phyllis Douglas of Hindsboro and Betty Hackett of Orlando, FL; two brothers, Charlie Crites of Olney, IL and Lee Crites of Noble, IL; three sisters, Innes Crites and Josephine Harmon, both of Olney, and Juanita Strange of Flora, IL; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Crites was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
