Grace Lorraine Bolinger went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, after a prolonged struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Grace was born in Parsons, Kan. on Jan. 1, 1935 to Earl and Inez Pickerill.

Her greatest joys in life were her family and church fellowship. She began her Christian faith as a baby in the Assembly of God Church, started by her parents in 1928 in Parsons, Kan. Grace served her Lord, never wavering in her faith, as a Sunday school teacher, women’s Bible study leader, and setting an example for her family and friends. Grace and her husband Delmar, helped start and build the House of Prayer, and finished her life as a member of the South Whidbey Assembly of God Church in Langley.

Grace had many talents that she enjoyed, among them, sewing, gardening, and above all making a warm, loving home for her family. She also enjoyed traveling around the world twice with her husband, and the two years they spent in Iran.

South Whidbey’s Sandy Hook had been her home since 1973, where she served on the architectural committee for the community.

Grace is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Delmar Bolinger; her three children, Debby Lunde (Dag), Sherry Capes and Rodney Bolinger (Ping Ping); four grandchildren Erica Swedburg (John Marc II), Trevor Lunde (Angie), Ryan Capes (Deena) and Kyle Lunde (Mary); four great-grandchildren, Gracie Swedburg, Cayden Capes, John Marc Swedburg III and Hudson Lunde; seven brothers and sisters, Max Pickerill, Don Pickerill, Dee Ann Heilman, Jeanette McKisick, Jerry Pickerill, Judy French and Paul Pickerill. Her sister Sally McGregor precedes her in death.

We will miss her dearly.

A service was held to celebrate her life on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at the South Whidbey Assembly of God Church on Maxwelton Road in Langley.
