Bertha Beatrice Dorman was born July 31, 1887 in Fabius Township, Davis County, Iowa, the eldest of ten children born to her parents, George Washington & Harriet McCullough. Her family moved from Iowa to Oklahoma in 1901. On January 12, 1908, Bertha was married to Rudolph Jacob Ewy. They owned and operated farms in Kiowa Co., Oklahoma. To this union, three daughters and one son were born. In 1946, Bertha moved to Fresno, California. She was a cook. On October 22, 1949, she was married to Ellis L. Dorman. She died on January 19, 1987 in Fresno, California, at the age of 99 years, 5 months, and 19 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, seven brothers, both of her husbands, and her daughter, Leoma R. Garel. She is survived by two daughters, Pearl E. Carter, and Ruby H. Moon; son Bert C. Ewy and four grandchildren, Eugene Latham, Jane Miller, Michael Ewy and Nancy Davis. Graveside services were held at the Fresno Memorial Gardens in Fresno, California.
