FRANK FRENCH, DIES IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, Internationally Famous Wood Engraver was 83, Manchester New Hampshire, 20 February 1933,Frank French, Internationally famous artist, Author, Illustrator of art, and Dean of American Wood Engravers, died late last night at his Reed's Ferry, New Hampshire Home, after a brief sickness. He was born at Loudon, New Hampshire in 1850. At age 22, Mr. French was engaged on the Staff of the American Tract Society as an engraver and soon became the recognized Master of his craft. He turned, later to the art and prepared articles with illustrations which were used in many nationally known Magazines. His Survivors are his wife: a daughter, Mable Edna French, and a son, Frank A. French, of Los Angeles, California.

The death of Frank French removes an Artist, not known only in this county, but Internationally famous and honored son of New Hampshire, He was an Author, as well as a Artist, but it was as an Artist that he was best known, his work included, a number of Master Pieces in landscape painting, flowers, and still art, in fact there was hardly a limit to the versatility of his Genius. He received the highest Honors at his artistry of Notable Exhibitions, being awarded metals at the Colombian Exposition in Chicago in 1893, the Pan America Exposition in Buffalo in 1901, the Paris Exposition in 1900, and the St. Louis Exposition in 1904. He was first famed as an Illustrator and was known as the Dean of American Wood Engravers.
