Eileen Boyle, age 74, of Sylvania, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at The Toledo Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Eileen was born August 11, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA where she was a proud graduate of Little Flower High School for Girls. She remained a dedicated supporter of her school and was very active with the Little Flower Alumni Association throughout her life.

Eileen loved to dance whenever she had the chance including on the American Band Stand in high school and on stage in the Toledo "Great Put On". She also enjoyed tennis, walking, sewing and sports and was an avid fan of her Philly teams.

Eileen was a voracious reader and could often be found reading on her back porch that she loved. She was known for her deep faith and for her pride in her Irish heritage.

Eileen was devoted to her family and dearly loved her children and grandchildren. When her kids were young, she was actively involved in their education at St. Joseph's School in Sylvania as a regular volunteer. She became a second mother to many of her children's friends and those that lived in her neighborhood.

Eileen worked as an administrative assistant for the Lucas County Commissioners' Office and the Lucas County Engineers Office from the mid 1980's through the mid 1990's.

She battled many illnesses for much of her life with grace and dignity and never let them slow her down.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Joseph Patrick Boyle, Jr.; son, Joseph Patrick Boyle, III of Sylvania; daughters, Sheila Catherine (Steve) Litchfield, of West Hartford, CT, Eileen Regina (Rob) Gemerchak, of Sylvania, and Patricia Maureen (Kevin) Russ, of Sylvania; grandchildren, Colleen, Tommy, and Matthew Litchfield; Joey, Danny, and Maren Gemerchak; and James Russ; sister, Veronica Thompson; brother, Joseph McBride; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Catherine McBride; infant son, Francis Boyle; infant granddaughter, Mara Gemerchak; sisters, Grace McBride, Regina Schramm, Catherine Lindsley; and brothers, Edward and Vincent McBride.

Eileen's family would like to thank the entire care staff at The Toledo Hospital, the Hickman Cancer Center, and to Dr. Phibbs and his wonderful staff for their care over the years and to her special caregiver, Peggy Miller.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2-9:00 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 5373 Main St., Sylvania, OH 43560. Come in your Kelly green and help us celebrate her life.
