Richard Jennings was the son of William Jennings (b.abt 1802 in England) and Jane Nevitt Browning Jennings (1819 OH-1894 IL). Richard seems to be the only child born in this marriage but had 3 half-brothers and 3 half-sisters from the Browning family. On Nov 26, 1895 in Crawford County, IL, Richard Jennings married Mary "May" Lackey (1859-1948), daughter of Thomas Lackey and Ann Eliza Boatright. They had no children. Richard in early life worked on the farm of his father-in-law and later was part-owner of a grocery store in Palestine. Around Palestine, Richard was known as a fine fiddler bringing musical entertainment for parties and dances. In 1906 he joined the First Presbyterian Church in Palestine. Richard is interred in the Mausoleum in the Palestine Cemetery.
