PAUL A. FREDERICK M.D. age 88, died in Claremont, CA Sunday June 6, 2010.
He was born April 12, 1922 in Kansas City, MO, to Joe and Dagmar Frederick. He graduated from Los Angeles College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons May 21, 1948 then two days later married Emy Silvia Brusascoin Hollywood, CA. He became an M.D. in 1962. Dr. Frederick maintained a private family practice in Pomona for 43 years and was a staff Cardiologist at Pomona Valley Hospital and Park Avenue Hospital. He was Chief of Staff at Pomona Valley for years and he pioneered coronary risk factor screening. Dr. and Mrs. Frederick were both active with American Heart Association (AHA) in the prevention of heart attacks. He was an avid volunteer in the AHA and strongly promoted heart disease prevention and screening. He loved photo- graphy, stamp collecting, restoration of cameras, and traveling with his wife Emy. Paul enjoyed Gilbert and Sullivan and sang in high school and college. He was quite the jokester and story-teller. Dr. Frederick was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Church in Claremont.
He is survived by his wife, Emy, children Paula, Lief, Galen (Claremont), and Victoria (Rancho Cucamonga), grandchildren Katherine, Emily, Lief Jr., Taylor Marie, Austin, Cara, Carla, John Cody and Max, and great-granddaughters Katelyn, Ashlyn, Dilyn, and Grace.
Funeral services for Dr. Frederick will be 9:30AM Saturday June 12 at Todd Memorial Chapel in Claremont followed by burial at 11AM at Oak Park Cemetery in Claremont.
