Owens, Lewis-Age 77, of the Pine Hill Community, passed away, Wednesday morning; February 5th, at the Scott County Hospital following a lingering illness. Mr. Owens was born in the Buffalo Community, on March 19, 1908. He was the son of the late Houk Owens, and the late Settie Mixon Owens. He was preceded also in death by one sister: Mary Owens; and three brothers: Frank, Alonzo, and James Owens. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife: Julia Phillips Owens, of the Pine Hill Community; three daughters: Mrs. John (Retha) Partin, of Powell, Tennessee, Mrs. Tommy (Lorene) Jeffers, and Mrs. John (Jueldia) Damron, both of Oneida; two sons: Kenneth E. Owens of Sharonville, Ohio, and Jerry K. Owens, of Huntsville, Alabama; five sisters: Mrs. Hobert (Effie) Hall, of Harriman, Flora Gilbert, and Cora Jones, both of Oneida, and Mrs. Lawrence (Ethel) Phillips of Cincinnati, Ohio; five granddaughters; two grandsons; six great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
