Opal was born May 25, 1923 in Vernal, Utah. She was born the eighth of nine children, including five boys and four girls. She was the daughter of Rosa Minerva Eaton and Carl Hadlock.

She married her sweetheart Clayton John Slaugh on May 2, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Opal was a beautiful, elegant woman in every sense. She was devoted to her Savior and a great example to her whole family. She had a sincere love and compassion for everyone she knew. She gave her heart and soul into every responsibility and all her relationships.

Opal served her Heavenly Father, and her family with sincere compassion and dedication. She was an excellent homemaker. Opal loved her flowers and took great pride in having them everywhere.

She loved to play games, especially mexican train and pinochle with her siblings and anyone else who was willing (and NEVER cheated!). She loved to laugh, to visit, and serve others.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in all her callings, including visiting teaching which she was always 100% in getting it done. Opal was very dedicated to attending the temple and doing genealogy, which she was very passionate about and loved. She did an extraordinary job of distributing the Book of Mormon and sharing her testimony.

She loved her family most of all and was very proud of all five children, thirty grandchildren, ninety-three great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren (she could number and name everyone, including in-laws).

She is survived by her husband, Clayton Slaugh; three sons and two daughters, Craig Slaugh (Diane) of Fallon, Nevada; Burnell Slaugh (Carmaleta) of Vernal, Utah; Lee Slaugh (Roxanne) of Roosevelt, Utah; Linda Slaugh Montgomery (Kent) of Lund, Nevada; Shauna Slaugh Giles (Joseph) of Springville, Utah; and a sister, Theresa Larson of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Funeral services were held Sat., June 12, 2010 in the Davis Third Ward Chapel under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. She was laid to rest in Vernal Memorial Park.
