Maxine Elizabeth Mills was born to Jeanette and Edward Base on July 3, 1919, in Spokane, WA. She peacefully passed away on August 4, 2008, in Wenatchee, WA. Maxine moved with her family to Seattle after eighth grade. Upon graduating from Garfield High School, she continued her education at the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor Degree in Economics. She was an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority. After graduation, she worked for six years in the Trust Department of National Bank of Commerce. While visiting her sister, Ferne Caldwell in Wenatchee, she met the love of her life, James H. Mills. They were married in Seattle in 1948, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Maxine was an active member of the Wenatchee First Presbyterian Church, Deborah Circle, PEO and Seattle Children's Hospital Orthopedic Guild. Her greatest joy and sense of accomplishment came from being a wife and homemaker, raising their three children, Jim, Jodi and Steve, and being actively involved in the lives of their seven grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, James H. Mills of Wenatchee; her children, James E. (Nancy) Mills, DDS of Wenatchee, Jodi Mills (Stephen MD) Brown of Seattle and Stephen H. (Richelle) Mills, DDS of Spokane; and grandchildren, Christopher and Katie Brown of Seattle, Andrew and Peter Mills of Spokane and Kevin, Brian and Lisa Mills of Wenatchee. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. John Gill and Dr. Joseph Anzalone and the staff of Central Washington Hospital and Dialysis Center. Memorial Services for Maxine Mills will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wenatchee Hospitality House or the First Presbyterian Church would be appreciated. Arrangements are by Jones & Jones ~ Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
