Edna Mae Lucas, 86, a life long resident of Wenatchee, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008, at Colonial Vista. She was born April 14, 1921, in Wenatchee, to Pete and Iola Crocker. Edna graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1939. She married Samuel W. Lucas in 1949. Edna brought two children into the marriage and they had two children together. Edna worked for many years at Pacific Fruit and Produce and various fruit packing sheds in Wenatchee. She also worked in her father and brother's apple orchards. Edna was most known for her bowling career, which began at a very young age at Tommy's Lanes on South Wenatchee Avenue. In 1955, she was voted "Most Outstanding Woman Bowler of the Year." In 1958, Edna won the Women's Eastern Washington All-Star Title in Yakima, which won her an all expense paid trip to Buffalo, NY, where she competed in the National All-Star Bowling Eliminations in January 1959. In 1960, she won Wenatchee's annual "Bowler of the Year" award. Edna was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where they formed the "Kitchen Band" that played throughout the State. After the death of her husband, Sam in 1973, Edna finally got her driver's license. She enjoyed yard sales, making crafts for Christmas Bazaars, swimming, Sunday barbecues with her sons, Dick and Jerry, at Jerry's home, playing piano, singing and dancing. She is survived by her brother, Dick Crocker of Wenatchee; her children, Jerry W. Lucas, Richard A. Lucas of East Wenatchee, Larry Lucas of Wenatchee and Toni Scott of Spokane; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one grandson. Services were held earlier. Donations in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society of charity of choice.
