In August 1850, Ephraim was living with son-in-law Isaac Dick in St Charles County, Missouri (1850 census). He apparently returned to Ohio and lived out his remaining years with his son Charles P. Gray and family in Lebanon, Ohio.

His Ohio will and probate records are filed in Probate Court for Warren County, Ohio Vol 1, 15 E 473.

“In the name of the Benevolent Father of all created beings, & in view of the uncertainty of life & the certainty of death, I, Ephraim Gray, of the County of Warren, Ohio, desirous of arranging my worldly affairs, and for the purpose of distributing my little Property fairly & impartially among my dearly beloved children & their children, while I am yet in possession of my mental faculties and bodily health, do make and declare this my last Will & Testament:

“I give & bequeath to my beloved daughter Almira P. McCormick, wife of James D. McCormick four hundred Dollars, to be paid as follows, to wit: Two hundred Dollars thereof to be paid to her in one year from the day of my death & the remaining two hundred dollars to be paid to her in two years from the day of my death;

“I hold a Note against my son-in-law Isaac A. Dick of Missouri bearing date May 1st 1853 for Two hundred dollars which at the time of my death, I hereby desire shall be paid by him & the proceeds thereof equally distributed, share & share alike among the then surviving children of said Dick’s late wife my dear departed daughter Betsy Ann;

“I give & bequeath to my dear little grand-daughters, Rebecca Gray, Emma Gray, Mary Gray & Stella Gray Each Five Dollars, to Ada I have already given the same sum.

“The residue of my Estate, Goods, Chattels, Credits, Credits, Money, Rights & Effects of every Kind whatsoever not hereinbefore otherwise distributed disposed of, I give and bequeath to my kind Son Charles P. Gray, whom I hereby appoint & constitute my Executor for the purpose of carrying into effect this my last Will & Testament.

“In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand & affixed my seal this 23rd day of July A.D. 1856.”
