Otto W. Freude was born September 3, 1874, in Pleasant Hill, Saline county, Nebraska. He died Sept. 25, 1937 in West Hollywood, Cal. He was married in 1901 to Mary Nutt of Saline county. They lived in Red Willow county three years, and in Saline count a short time. From there they moved to Fillmore county on the farm southwest of Fairmont, now owned by Mrs.L.F. Lott, for about six years. From here they moved to Nuckolls count, where they lived until December, 1936, when he suffered a paralytic stroke. Thereafter, he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Tice in West Hollywood, Cal., until his death.

Mr. Freude was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. Those surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Tice of West Hollywood, Cal.; three sons, Virgil and Clifford of Los Angeles and Elvin of West Hollywood, Cal.; also a son and daughter, Roy and Lulu, who preceded him in infancy. Two brothers, A.C. of Crete and Dr. W.J. of Dorchester and three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Rereker of Laurel, Mrs. Charles Morton of Omaha and Mrs. Minnie Redice of Colome, S.D.; with two brothers and two sisters deceased.

Funeral services were held at the Fairmont cemetery, Thursday afternoon, Sept. 30, with Rev Robert L. Embree officiating.
