Roger Martin Crawford was born on Jun 13, 1953 in Fostoria, Hancock County, Ohio. He was the first of six children of Richard; Feb 10, 1930 OH – Feb 10, 2010 CA; and Barbara Arlene (Atkins) Crawford; Apr 16, 1933 VA – Jan 7, 2007 CA; with their marriage being preformed on May 24, 1952 in Elizabeth City, Pasquotank County, North Carolina. Rogers' siblings were Dale 1955, Mark Steven Dec 11, 1956, Pamela 1957, Wayne 1959 and Delbert 1966.

Roger began his life having a residence with his parents in several locations in Fostoria, moving with them to Sandusky in 1957, back to Wood County in 1960 to stay on the farm with his grandmother; Nita Marie (Lee) Crawford; Jun 19, 1894 – Mar 3, 1969; along with his mother and other siblings while his father traveled to California to establish employment and residence. In Aug, all but Nita boarded a train in Fostoria for a 3 day train ride to San Bernardino, California. He lived at several locations briefly until his father established the family home on Pembroke where he remained until he grew into adulthood.

I do not believe Roger attended any schooling in Ohio, my first memory being of him walking down the road for 1st grade at Terrance Grade School. After moving to the Pembroke residence Roger established what would turn in to a family tradition of Jackson Elementary School, Chemawa Junior High, with Roger graduating in 1972 from Ramona High School. By the time the last of his siblings completed their schooling Rogers parents would be on first name basis with the majority of the schools Faculties.

In the early 60's Roger joined the Cub Scouts setting the course to the Boy Scouts and enjoying camping, backpacking as well as conservation projects. Roger just missed attaining Eagle Scout when his attention grew to NASCAR, quarter midgets as well as motorcycle flat tracking and motor cross. This may have stemmed from our father taking us to the quarter midget dirt tracks in Fremont and Sandusky as small children. You could always find him at Riverside International, the short lived Ontario Motor Speedway or Corona Raceway. Rogers's interest was supported by his part time employment with Atlas Coveralls.

In 1972 Roger received his draft notice and enlisted in the US Navy completing his basic training in San Diego and then his Technical training as an Aviation Ordnance man (AO) before reporting to a Squadron home based at NAS Miramar, San Diego, California.
In 1973 and 1974 the Squadron went TDY aboard the USS Constellation CVA 64 and USS Ranger as part of the carrier air wing to Yankee Station. In 1975 after completing a 3 year active service enlistment he was reassigned to the Naval Reserves for an additional 3 years before being fully discharged from military service.

On Sep 30, 1978 Roger entered into a marriage performed in Riverside, California with their relationship ending in a childless divorce.

In Rogers later years he enjoyed filling his time by participating on bowling leagues with tournament trips to Las Vegas, and enjoying coaching little league and children's soccer teams as well as continuing with NASCAR.

Rogers's employment after military service included; working as a production labor with a window & door manufacturing company in Cucamonga later leading into a supervisor capacity and then a 8 year employment with Suburban Propane Company as a truck driver.

His life came to an abrupt end after a ruptured brain aneurysm induced a 10 day comatose state before the family removed life support from him eventually leading to his passing at Parkview Community Hospital on March 9, 1999.

Services were conducted for Roger Martin Crawford at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside California with his cremated remains being interned at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
