Charlotte Marie Celeste Brooks was a daughter of William Brooks and his wife Mary Elizabeth Celeste Hutchins (1768-1812, a daughter of Col. Anthony Hutchins of Saluda, South Carolina). She was born at her father's plantation, Anchorage, near Natchez, Adams County, Mississippi.

Charlotte married Robert Field (1797-1850) at the Anchorage on 11 July 1822. He was a Captain in the US Navy, and a son of Robert Field and his wife Abigail Stockton, of New Jersey. Abigail was a daughter of Richard Stockton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence (find a grave # 2732). Her mother was Annis Boudinot (find a grave # 11131407). Charlotte and Robert had eight children:

4. Hannah Boudinot Field (c. 1831) m. Chancellor McGill.

5. Charlotte Brooks Field (10 Nov. 1837-30 July 1857)

6. Dr. Robert Field (19 Aug. 1842-17 March 1909) Lieutenant, CSA, m. Annabella "Belle" Daniel (22 June 1845-30 Oct. 1922) on 8 Sept. 1869, Hinds Co. Lived at Hattiesburg, Forrest Co., Miss. Ten children.

7. William Brooks Field (12 May 1844-22 Jan. 1903) m. Medora Cotton (8 April 1846-19 Oct. 1919) on 2 Feb. 1865, Jefferson Co., and they had five children. Lived at McNair, Jefferson Co., Miss.

8. Mary Dunbar "May" Field (1848-1866) m. William Howard Crane on 6 July 1865, Hinds Co.

After Robert Field's death, Charlotte married John T. Griffith in 1851. After he died, she married Rev. Howard C. Crane.
