∼Born: March 9, 1924 in Hutchinson, KS to William Lee and Elizabeth Caroline (Carrie) Cain Van Zandt. Grace was one of seven girls.
Died: June 7, 2010 in Hutchinson, KS.
Married Glen Miller on April 26, 1944 and had two children Danny and Judy. Glen passed away April 11, 1950.
Married Joseph (Joe) Huna on July 1, 1951 together they had one son, Charles, who later died on January 16, 1970. Joe passed away June 3, 2008.
Grace graduated from Partridge High School in 1943 and was a long-time active member with the Partridge Community Association. Grace and Joe attended the Partridge Community Church. Something unique about Grace and Joe is they were owners of the Partridge Grocery Store and I remember to this day going into that store when I was younger and little did I know that they were my future husbands' grandparents.
I found Grace to be a strong woman of faith and extremely involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All together Grace and Joe had six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren that miss them dearly.
Grace was all about family tradition, for fifteen years Christmas Day was always spent in Partridge at Grandma and Grandpa Hunas. This event was something that everyone looked forward too, and is something that our family misses. Grace also played a huge role in planning the annual Van Zandt reunion, and enjoyed putting together bingo games and prizes for the great-grandchildren.
I have never met such a strong woman like Grace in my lifetime, and I hope that the legacy will continue through her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. A legacy filled will empowering women who left such great tradition not only in the community but in the lives of her family.
