Verne Williams
April 14, 1914-May 2, 1999
Mr. Verne Williams died at Albany General Hospital on May 2. He was born in Tallman, Oregon to Glen and Verle (Jackson) Williams. He was married to Henrietta (Zeller) Williams on August 30, 1935 in Albany, Oregon. He lived in the Shedd/Halsey area most of his life. He farmed and then drove a school bus part-time for the Shedd School District which worked into a full time custodial job with the Central Linn School District.
He was a member of the Shedd Methodist Church and was in the National Guard during World War II. He loved horses and was a horseman his entire life. He is survived by his wife, Henrietta, his sons Merlin Williams of Vashon, WA, and Wayne Williams of Tumwater, WA, and daughter Patty Kirk of Albany. Brothers Kenneth Williams of Junction City and Melvin Williams of Philomath also survive. He has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Doris Cox and his son Ed Williams, who died in 1995.
The services will be held at the Shedd United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 5 with a private interment at Willamette Memorial Park in Albany. Pastor Ruth Shirley is the officiating officer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glaucoma Research in care of Fisher Funeral Home.
