RALSTON - Kenneth M. Ralston, 95, 6209 McDonald Road, Roscoe, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 1991, in Alpine Fireside Health Center after a short illness. Born Nov. 21, 1895, in Chicago, son of Peter W. and Hannah McAffee Ralston. Lived 77 years in Roscoe, moving there from Chicago. Married Evelyn Belden in Roscoe on June 15, 1922; she died Oct. 3, 1985. Employed as farmer before his election as Harlem Township Tax Assessor, a position he held for 14 years. Member and former elder of Willow Creek Presbyterian Church. Member of Harlem Historical Society, Roscoe Grange, Chicago Producers Livestock Association, Northwest Gun Club and Young at Heart Club, Roscoe; charter member and former director of Winnebago County Farm Bureau; ASCS County committeeman; received National Soil Conservation Award in 1949; served as director of Midwest Dairyman's Association; active in Winnebago County Extension Service activities. Past president and secretary of Harlem Consolodated School District Board. Trustee of Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department. Appointed by the governor to the State Soil Conservation Board. Director of Pecatonica-Durand Soil Conservation District. Life member of Lovejoy PTA, and trustee of Argyle Scottish Cemetery. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jane (Robert) Alexander, Rockford; five sons, Russell (Gloria), Naples, Fla., Laurence (Hazel), Roscoe, Harold (Mary), Racine, Wis.; David (Margaret), Fairfax, Va., and Duane (Deanna), Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Ralston, Evanston; and several nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by one sister, Dorothy Ralston; two brothers, Thomas J. and William J.C.; one daughter, Elizabeth; one granddaughter; one great-grandson.

He was a descendant of R.J. Cross, a pioneer settler in the Roscoe area.
