Rockford Daily Gazette, Saturday, August 9, 1890
The funeral services of the late Robert Ralston were held at the Scotch church last Thursday afternoon, Rev Fulton officiating. Robert Ralston was born in the parish of Southern Argyleshire, Scotland, July 12th, 1802, and was eighty-eight years and eighteen days of age at the time of his death. He came to America in 1832 and settled in Ohio; in 1850 moved to this county, and with the exception of one year, he has lived on the old homestead.. In 1838 he married Miss Nancy Biggins who still survives. In 1858 he was elected justice of the peace and served his town in that capacity continuously until the time of his death. He has been a consistent member of the Presbyterian church for about seventy years. As Mr Ralston was one of the oldest settlers of this community and has always lived an upright life both socially and religiously, it may well be said that his was a life worthy of imitation
