He was probably originally buried in what was then called the Oakland Ave. Cemetery outside of Elkhart City at the time of his death. This cemetery was emptied by 1921 and all graves moved to other later cemeteries in Elkhart such as Prairie St. He never did live in the town or city of Elkhart proper.

"Jesse and Mary Rush moved to Elkhart County, IN in 1827. On the 16th of May 1828, Mary gave birth to twins: first born was Isaiah followed a few minutes later by Marjorie.
