Eleanor Mazar

PASADENA, Texas -- Eleanor Margaret Cryan Mazar died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006 at Pasadena Bayshore Medical Center. She was 83.

Born in Oxford to John and Lena Cryan, she resided in High Bridge for 42 years and then in LaPorte, Texas for three years before moving to Bangor, Pa. She then returned to LaPorte 15 years ago and resided there until February 2005, when she became a resident of Vista Continuing Care in Pasadena.

She worked at what is now called the Edna Mahan women's prison in Union Township, retiring in 1984.

For many years she was a member of the VFW women's auxiliary in Glen Gardner.

Her husband, Peter, died in 1983.

Survivors include four daughters, Judith Apgar and Eileen Sheridan, both of LaPorte, Patricia Breitfeller of Roseto, Pa. and Nancy Chapman of Stanwood, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Her body was cremated.
