His middle name was probably William, since he named a son Robert William.

Born in Newtownbarry, Wexford (now called Bunclody, Wexford), about 15 miles from Gorey.
He put on the 1911 census that he was born in 1859. His son put on Robert's death record (in 1934) that he was born 1864 and his tombstone says 1872. Birth records in Ireland go back to 1864 and he has not been found, so it seems likely that 1859 is correct.

Son of John & Mary Webster.

Married Margaret Wiley Emmett (daug of William Emmett) in 1890, Wicklow, Ireland.

Marriage certificate - 10 Dec 1890 - parish of Bray Co. Wicklow. His father was John Webster (Laborer), hers was William Emmett (Station Master). Robert Webster's profession = coachman.

When Robert married he was probably living at Rosedale House in Shankill (County Dublin) where he worked as a coachman. Margaret was living at St. James Parsonage in Bray, probably working as a domestic. (St. James church built about 1840, lies between Shankill in County Dublin and Bray in County Wicklow, on the eastern coast.)

The Robert William Webster born in Dublin in 1892 and died in 1894 was probably their first son.

In 1894 the family lived at 29 Lennox St. in central Dublin.
Children, John Wiley was born in 1894, Arthur in 1896 and Violet in 1899.

1901 census of Ireland, county Wicklow:
Webster, Robert - 44, head, religion: Church of Ireland
. . . . . Margaret - 36, wife
. . . . . John - 7, son
. . . . . Arthur - 5, son
. . . . . Violet - 2, daughter

His wife died in Dublin, Ireland in 1904. After her death, the family story is that the children were placed in a orphanage in Dublin. [The prevailing feeling at that time was that a single man could not take care of his children, so they were taken away from him.]
Daughter, Violet was in a girls boarding school in Dublin in 1911.

He came to Canada in 1907 with at least 2 of his children. Violet came later. (We know he came in 1907 because his death certificate said he had lived in Ontario for 27 years.)

1911 census of Canada, Ontario, Toronto Center, 50 Leonard Ave.:
Webster, Robt. (head) - 52, b Jun 1859
. . . . . John (son) - 17, b Jun 1894
. . . . . Arthur (son) - 18, b Mar 1893 (should be 15)

Sometime after 1911 he married 2nd to Mary McCormack in Canada. She died Jan 28, 1930 and is buried in Hamilton, Ont. They may have had a son (maybe Albert J).
