Ludwig A. (Lou) Gisonna of Wilmington died Sunday June 6, 2010 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center.

He was born February 13, 1920 in Brooklyn N.Y. son of the late Michell Gisonna and Angelina Linfante Gisonna.

Lou was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII from 1943 to 1946, was a member of the American Legion and was one of the original founders and a lifetime member of Untied States Bowling Congress.

Surviving is his wife of sixty-two years Philomena Fruscio Gisonna of Wilmington; sons, Victor P. Gisonna and wife Rose of Charlotte, N.C. and James M. Gisonna and wife Debra of Wilmington, N.C.; daughter, Anne Gisonna Potter and husband Monroe of Wilmington, N.C. and Judith Gisonna Holt and husband John of Lawrenceville, GA.; grandchildren, Beth Sansotta of Avon Lake, OH, Tracy P. Watkins and husband Walker of Wilmington, N.C., Victor M. Gisonna of Wilmington, N.C., James P. Gisonna of Wilmington, N.C. and Michael D.A. Holt of Lawrenceville, GA.; great grandchildren, Megan M. Wick, Anthony M. Sansotta, Michael D. Sansotta all of Avon Lake, OH and Carly E. Watkins and Andrew W. Watkins both of Wilmington, N.C., a sister Helen G. Fiore of Fort Myers, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am Wednesday June 9, 2010 at St. Mark Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
