Lowell A. Freis, 67, of 20 Fremont Street, Kiel, died Tuesday afternoon, February 26, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee after a brief illness.
He was born on November 26, 1923, at Two Creeks, son of the late Roland and Linda Grotegut Freis. He attended Kiel Elementary School and was a 1941 graduate of Kiel High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
On May 13, 1944, he married Edythe Sieling at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. He was the president of Freis Von Kiel, Inc., which has been a family operated business in Kiel for many years dealing in construction and food service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kiel, past member of the Kiel Planning Commission, past member of the Kiel School Board and a member of the Kiel VFW Post No. 6707.
Survivors include his wife, Edythe; four sons, Gary (Lora) Sheboygan; Randal, Ted and Dean, all of Kiel; two daughters, Cheryl (Larry) Bornemann, Fond du Lac; Heidi of Kiel; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Dalhardt (Judith) Freis of Kiel. He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey in 1989.
