Funeral services for Mrs. Bess Stovall Pigford, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the First United Methodist Church.
Rev. Marvin James, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Clarendon.
Pallbearers will be Sam Miller, Troy Collins, Gary Smothermon, Odis Smothermon, Eddie Leary, Homer Compton Jr., Jim Moody and Charles Carter.
Mrs. Pigford died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the Northwest Texas Hospital after an illness of 12 days.
She was born December 7, 1893 in Hempstead, Texas, and married Sam Pigford in Clayton, N.M., in August of 1926.
They moved to Childress in 1941 from Newlin and he died January 31 [sic], 1950.
After his death she operated a broading [sic] house here for several years and was operating the HiWay Cafe at the time of her death.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Billy Joe Atkinson of Childress and two grandsons, Joe Bruce Atkinson of Childress and Billy Don Atkinson, a student at Texas Tech.
She was a member of the Childress Chapter of the Eastern Star and was active in the Burlington Auxiliary for several years.
