He married Margaret Hazel McQuitty April 15, 1940 Gove County, Kansas. Vern was a rancher, farmer, water well driller in the Gove and Scott County Kansas areas. Three Children were born to this union, Larry Vern (1941) Linda Lee Litton Berning (1944) and Leanna Lynn Litton Webb (1948). Sibblings: Halbert George Litton (1907-1966) and Lewis Ray Litton (1915-1989).
