Amos T. Smith, Jr., of Gardners, entered into eternal rest on the morning of June 6, 2010, in Gettysburg.

Born Wednesday, September 5, 1923 in Rouzerville, he was the son of the late Amos T. and Anna (Rowe) Smith, Sr.

Amos was formerly employed by Teledyne Landis in Waynesboro for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

His companion Mabel Sheaffer died in 1974 and he is survived by his daughter, Connie Latham, of Gates, TN; three stepdaughters, Shelvy Sheaffer and Doris Sheaffer, both of Gardners, and Helen Malinoski of Arendtsville; a stepson, Michael Sheaffer of York Springs; three brothers, Alfred Smith, of Waynesboro, Frank Smith, of Rouzerville and James Smith of West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, Kenneth Sheaffer, and numerous brothers and sisters.

Interment was in Idaville Cemetery with military services provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans.
